It has been one year since we bought our lovely apartment. The interio design has been an on going projects. First I started with sketching in program Sketch-up and just placed our existing furnitures as good as we can. We’ve succeeded quite good since friends and family has expressed many times that it is very ‘cozy’ to be our quests. Our apartment has very open floorplan and that was most important reason we bought it, we’re tired of being limited to every space and rooms.

The biggest changes and princips we hade in the beginning were:
1. Move bedroom to guest room which is smaller. We don’t need much space to sleep so why not have bed in a smaller room which contributes actually a more cozy atmosphere.
2. Make big bedroom into playing room with computers, yoga ball, lifting bar, wood carving……Sometimes we can even hold computer game LAN as an open house for friends that are playing Dota 2 on Valentines day and Halloween lol. With 10 computers in a house is really a stunning scene as opening an internet café!
3.Instead of pressing in a huge sofa, we made the single bed from last house owner into a temporary sofa by placing back cushions from our old sofa. It is not perfect to sit on but has been used as a bed when we have guests on gaming night or christmas.

However, this is definitly not the end of the design project, there’re still many big ideas we’ve dreamed of and it just takes time to make the dream come ture, and we’re enjoying this procedure by living with changes.

The second stage of project started with out first cat Bobi, see Bobi the bobcat 2020. In one of my original design idea, I want to import tree elements to lead the main style. With our lovely cat that might appreciate to have a cat tree, we combined both interior and cat tree idea to blow the start whistle for project.

With the old car from Philip’s mother, our life has gained more agility that we conquered the highest mountain in Sweden, Kebnekaise, hiking around with friends, cat and dog. Most important of all, the car is big enough to carry most of the furnitures even trees magically. We bought most stuffs from the second hand fb group in Umeå which is amazingly cheap and interesting. I started with thew out a question on fb tips group: ‘Does anyone know where I can get fresh trees to make a cat tree?’ In this country full with forests people still have high respect for nature therefore it is not actually allowed to chop down trees. After a while a woman contacted me and said: ‘We have some small trees that we cut off and it’s free to take.’ At their place we saw the real self bulid house and they were developing their forest into playground, stable, and farm all by their own, well we kind of saw the picture of our future in live lol.

In couple weeks since we brought back trees, it was only full with lots of labor works and physical job such as sawing unnecessary branches, peeling bark, scrub surface with sandpaper and metal file, just for preparing the ground material for cat tree. First products are my first cheese slicers in life, we designed shape of handles that is more ergonomic and they are just amazing in both aesthetics and function. When the first also the biggest tree was peeled, we started moving around furnitures. It is as high as ceiling therefore we just placed the tree in different corners and kept working on second tree which has best height and form as a cat tree.

At the same time I keep en eye on fb group everyday and bought these furnitures in a row:
1.400kr Two sits sofa 137cm long with bed extension, replaced our existing sofa(single bed) which is moved to playing room.
2.500kr Computer chairs plus 2m long computer desk, we have an exaclty same computer chair that Philip bought for 2000kr two years ago, which make the room furnitures more united.
3.200kr Bar set, a home build bar table with cabinet plus shelf with 3 spotlight and glass rack. I bought it mainly for the shelf in the beginning, thinking threw away the bar table, however, when we arrived there it turned out that the table has a huge cabinet hided under the cloth! This surprise unexpectly blows the start whistle for kitchen project!

I always have a feeling that coincidence godess is following me that I deem as a bless most of time.

At the same time our refrigerator stopped working suddenly right before Christmas time which is a pain in ass to fix. Lucklily, the temperature in balcony is around 1–3 degrees this week (minus from next week) so we just threw everything in balcony for couple days. What’s more, I came up that why not try to search a refrigerator in same fb group and guess what ? I found directly this:
4.200kr Refrigerator, only 5 minutes by car. For the first time, our car cannot hold a furniture, we couldn’t close trunk cover !? It was really closed so we decided to play with fire — driving on high way 100km/h for 3 minutes. I hold the refrigerator so tight that I got almost cramp to make sure it doesn’t glide away. Philip:’This could be our last refrigerator’ Me:’No, we’ll not even have chance to use it’ Philip:’I never drived with such full focus before…’ Me:’We are still alive! Wee!’
Thanks god in the end we are still alive, refrigerator works perfectly and our kitchen project will keep going. It is so cold that I double checked that it was not freezer I bought lol.
Here is the kitchen project idea, we will move the freezer and refrigerator away from the existing cabine and build the space into a platform as extension of kitchen instead.

To be continued……
